In almost every house across the country there resides an unassuming piece of crockery, stamped with ‘Temukaware’. An unsung star of New Zealand’s domestic pottery scene, unrealised in its significance, unappreciated in the art world, and only occasionally seen in museums. The Waitaki Museum | Te Whare Taoka o Waitaki holds one of the largest collections of Temuka Pottery in New Zealand, including rare and unique pieces.
