Inspired by Earth: caught in stone the wonderlab and Whitestone Aspiring Global Geopark have collaborated on an online educational programme.

The exhibition Earth: caught in stone was a collaborative project with the University of Otago, GNS Science Te Pū Ao and the Dunedin School of Art. The exhibition is about earth science. Exploring the formation of rock and past life over geological time, under pressure and constant change. Engaging the macro and the micro, with chaos and order.

The idea for ‘Meet the locals’ was to highlight and explore topics from the exhibition that relate to the Waitaki. We chose Pillow lava, Diatoms, Bryozoans and Penguins. For each topic, Geopark educator, Sasha Morris tells the science story; what, how, where and a fun fact. And to go with the facts, Forrester Gallery educator, Elizabeth King shares an art activity that explores the topic and can be done at home.
